On March 23, 2019, the fourth edition of the Museum Portrait Art Project took place.

Another unit is dedicated to the creation of the “Portrait of the Lviv History Museum”.

On the initiative of the Academic Council of the NGO Center for Cultural and Art Initiatives in Lviv, in 2015, with the participation of the SCA SPIROGRAPH Artistic Public School of Arts and with the support of the Lviv Regional Charitable Foundation TORBA, in 2015 the Museum Portrait Project was launched. The debut of the project was held at the Lviv Museum of Natural History. In 2016, as a part of the project, young artists created a portrait of the Lviv National Gallery of Art. B.G. Voznytskiy. The third edition of the project was dedicated to the Museum of Antiquities Collection “Kuferok” of the Center for Cultural and Art Initiatives in Lviv.

The aim of the project is to promote the museum as a world full of riddles where anyone can find interesting things, answers to global questions or their own discoveries. Museum treasures are the models due to which young creators of the beauty can draw on many ideas for displaying their visions with artistic means. During each edition participants are offered a different artistic technique. Participation in the project is free. It enables children from low-income families (and other socially deprived categories) to tap into the world of amazing reflections and transformations.

At the end of February 2019, the NGO Center for Cultural and Art Initiatives requested the Lviv Museum of History to join the project and allow the young artists of the city to create a portrait. The Directorate was eager to respond to the open partnership in the project.

The program of creating a portrait of the Lviv History Museum started on March 23, 2019. The exposition of the Department of Ancient History of Ukraine took place (in the house, in Rynok Square 24, Lviv); a master class on working in the technique of oil pastel and performing art work in this technique. The museum tour was conducted by senior researcher of the museum Marian Khomyn. The master-class was held by the lecturers of LAS SCA “SPIROGRAPH”: Head of the Department of Fine and Decorative Arts Ph.D. Oleh Bolyuk; teachers of drawing and painting – Vira Galaiko and Serhiy Havrylovych; artistic director – Andriy Sendetskyy.

The workshop was attended by 12 people, including 10 people aged 9-13 years and two very young, 5 and 6 years old.

What a portrait of the Lviv Museum of History looks like through the eyes of a young artist, it is likely to see in the exposition space of the Lviv History Museum in the near future  since the works created by young artists have been donated to the museum. We invite everyone to join the bunch of creators of PORTRAIT MUSEUM!
