genocide, destruction, and internal crises, the people of Ukraine have not been left alone in their struggle. On the contrary, thousands of caring individuals worldwide—especially in Canada—actively support Ukraine’s courageous journey.
Within this context, the charitable project “Pysanka for Peace,” initiated by the WUNDERfund platform, has been held in Calgary for the fourth time.
The volunteer group’s website notes that the project’s mission is to support peace restoration. The organizers use the raised funds to support Ukrainian defenders who risk their lives daily to resist the invader and to help newcomers from Ukraine who have arrived in Alberta, Canada, seeking refuge and a fresh start.

The organizers displayed all Easter eggs in a specially curated art space at Southcentre Mall in Calgary. Visitors explored these unique works of art, discovered the stories behind them, met the artists, and supported the cause by purchasing pieces. Following the online bidding, the project culminated in a live auction where the works were sold, with a portion of the proceeds going directly to support specific individuals currently serving on the front lines, not only defending Ukraine but safeguarding Europe as a whole.
Artists of Ukrainian heritage, alongside compassionate creators from other ethnic backgrounds, crafted dozens of unique Easter eggs: from traditional eggshell-sized pysanky to large-scale art objects over 80 cm tall. They astonished viewers with their various techniques, symbolic depth, ornamental compositions, and cohesive artistic concepts.
We proudly present some artists who participated in the 2025 project with open hearts: Phaedra Vandendrun, Tara Schweigert, Lyle Rietze, Christine Knights, Iryna Pidburtna, Taras Voitkiv, Anastasiia Khodnia, Daena Diduck, Viktoria Malamura, Andriy Sendetskyy, Oleh Bolyuk, and others.
